Mission 1: Unscheduled Madness
Timeline: Day 1 - 0900 Hours
While enroute to the Romulan border to rendezvous with Colonel Loval of the Tal Shiar, the Orion has been forced to make an unscheduled stop in a region of space known as the Grivoran Sector. According to initial reports, we have experienced a system-wide shutdown of our warp propulsion systems. I will be contacting Colonel Loval to inform him of the delay shortly.
This type of failure is not only rare but surprising. We had just departed Earth a week ago. While at McKinley Station the Orion received a complete systems check including a level one diagnostic. So far we haven't found anything out of the ordinary. I have full confidence in Lieutenant Miazami and his engineering staff to find the cause of this malfunction. The sooner we leave this space, the better.
A lot of eyes are on this mission to succeed. The risks are high but so are the benefits. Any delay or appearance of failure or incompetence could turn the Romulans away from the peace table. That is a conclusion I'm unwilling to accept.
