Asher arrived early, that way he could pick where they sat. He had a slight grin on his face and only felt slightly sorry that T'Sai had ever said yes to him sharing her table in the first place. He found one that wasn't in the center of the room but had a nice view of the stars that currently weren't zooming by. Asher sat down and waited.
After a few moments, T'Sai entered into the lounge. It had been yet another shift where no answers were found and the Orion still sat stalled. For whatever reason, she was beginning to suffer lapses in focus due to this frustration. She found Asher's table and sat down as she normally would. "Greetings," she said to Asher.
"Hi," He smiled at her. "Glad you could come." Asher didn't have the chance to stand up before she was in her chair. "How was your work day?" He asked, searching for something intelligent to follow it up with.
"We were unable to determine an outward cause of the current state of the ship," T'Sai replied. "How was your work day?" she repeated as though trying to fit in.
"Equally terrible." He replied with a grin. "Can I get you a drink?" Asher looked around for a waiter. "What do Vulcan's typically drink anyway?"
"We drink tea," T'Sai replied to Asher just as a member of the wait staff walked by. With a simple nod, the waiter disappeared only to return moments later with a particularly tasty tea native to Vulcan.
Shifting her eyes uncomfortably, the Vulcan looked at Asher. "Why were you so insistent on having a meal with me?"
"Honestly I thought you could use a friend. Most species find that they have relationships with their crew members on a starship. You looked so . . . lost and out of place." Asher shrugged. She looked uncomfortable the first time he'd seen her, hopefully he wasn't making things worse.
“A friend?” T’sai sort of repeated. “I see. I find that agreeable.”
At that time, the waiter drop the tea by the table without even an acknowledgement toward Asher. As the man left, T’Sai asked, “Donyou require nourishment?”
Asher shook his head, "I'm not really hungry to be honest." He put his elbow down on the table and rested his head on his propped up arm. A grin spread across his face as he watched her sip her tea. "You know something, you have very beautiful eyes."
T'Sai arched her eyebrow a bit in confusion. "I appreciate the compliment. "However, I must confess that I am not sure what you are trying to do." She studied the man for a moment, "It was my understanding that this was to be a meeting of friends."
"It is. But don't friends sometimes become something else?" He winked and went back to staring at her.
A hand suddenly came down on T'Sai's shoulder. "Hey, You alright? I said your name and you didn't respond." Asher, the real Asher was standing next to the table. "Sorry I'm late, forgot to set the alarm and doesn't it just figure that it would be today of all mornings."
A look of genuine confusion came across T'Sai's face, perhaps with a hint of genuine horror. "I...," she gave a look to where Asher had just been sitting only to find a completely empty chair with no evidence that anyone had been sitting there. "I apologize. I must speak with the First Officer," the Vulcan stated as she quickly stood and walked out of the lounge.
Asher looked completely confused and watched her leave. Was it something he'd said or done? Touching her on the shoulder perhaps? He sighed and sat down, might as well have some breakfast alone.
